Cable discipline as a kindness to your future self

2025-01-09 · Haruto Iguchi

Edge Relay Workshop spends a surprising amount of time on cable photos—not because we love aesthetics, but because misaligned jumpers waste everyone’s oxygen during remote triage.

We teach a simple photo grammar: wide shot, tight shot, label close-up. Learners practice on loaner racks before touching anything customer-adjacent.

Heat also matters more than textbooks admit. Summer photos from Kanazawa cohorts showed warped zip ties we now call out explicitly in the syllabus.

None of this replaces carrier accountability, but it does make English-language updates to upstream partners calmer. When photos tell a clear story, sentences stay shorter and kinder.
